Have a fantastic weekend. Temperatures have been steadily climbing throughout the week here on the West Coast. They are supposed to reach over 100 degrees yet again on this, the day my family has scheduled a thirteen mile bike ride downtown to see the newest movie in the Bourne series. I will be bringing lots of water and thinking of cooler places, to be sure.
POV Hacakthon: the love child of the op-ed and the web video.
A friend just turned me on to the One Minute Wonder web series and it’s pretty fantastic.
High on the list of things that made me happy this week? The official announcement that Solange Knowles will be the new face of Madewell.
I may try to beat the heat with a couple of watermelon raspberry sangrias.
Did you know that Tuesday was National Pie Day? (In addition to being National Friendship Day?) I wish I had known.
Keri Russell is going to star in a new spy drama…set in the 80s…as an undercover KGB operative. Yes please.
Some of the books on this list bring back memories. Especially the Sarah Dessen novels. I read a lot of Sarah Dessen in my teenaged years.
Looks like we’ll be able to get to see the first episode of The Mindy Project two weeks before it airs on September 7th. Who’s a happy camper? I’m a happy camper.

I know I have been pretty quiet this week. Next week will be better. This week was crazy-town-banana-pants, but I got a lot done! The Facebook page and the Twitter feed for my newest project is officially up and running. All in preparation for our first IndieGoGo campaign, which goes up at noon today! So exciting! This photo is actually the temporary logo we are using until our new graphic designer can get a hold of it. Even though it’s just a placeholder, I actually kind of like it.
Anyway, in an effort to not completely neglect the blog I have put together a little digest for this week. (Did I already promise that next week will be better? Because it totally will be.)
Simple financial planning advice for the 20-something person. I appreciate.
I don’t exactly have Olympic fever, but I have been doing some hardcore cheering for Gabby Douglas. I think she’s amazing and jerks should immediately stop criticizing her hair. More on this later.
I was listening to this while driving and, I will admit it, I teared up.
Did you see Parker Posey on the last two episodes of Louie? Absolutely amazing.
That…is…a living room trapeze. I need one. I need one right now.

Is it just me, or did this week go by really quickly? Every day felt as if it was short just a few hours. Maybe that’s because I fell behind on work on Monday and spent the rest of the week trying to catch up. I’m launching an IndieGoGo campaign for my newest project, so things have been just a little extra insane (more on that later).
Tyra Banks, I’m giving you notice. I am officially replacing you and America’s Next Top Model for The Face. (I’m sure she’s taking this really hard, guys.)
I want this jacket. That is all.
What’s extra special about the list of films announced for the Toronto International Film Festival? All three of the high profile documentaries were directed by woman. Boo-yah.
Refinery29 posted an “Ultimate Guide to African America Hair,” this week. Not only it is a pretty cool guide, I am excited to see that a mainstream fashion and beauty magazine is making an effort to connect with it’s Black readers.
This Carrot Banana Bread needs to be in my oven and then in my belly.
Single Ladies has been doing so well on Vh1 that they’ve just announced another predominately black, hour-long scripted show, Bounce, will debut this fall. Kimberley Elise? Dean Cain? Yes please.
Looks like my stack of September issues is going to be fat this year. Just the way I like it.
Instructions for a Simple Summer Hammock that I will probably call my Year-Long Hammock.

Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is restful yet eventful. I’m going to see The Dark Knight Rises and work on my quilt. With any luck the weekend will be easy and fun because I have a feeling that this next week is going to be quite the doozy.
Amy Poehler is amazing. That is all.
I’m drooling over One Mango Tree’s first lookbook.
I need to make this recipe for Carrot Banana Bread.
I’ve been looking for a cute pincushion pattern, and I think this Vintage Teacup Pincushion just became the frontrunner.
Technically this was two weeks ago, but I can’t stop thinking about this Pop Culture Happy Hour on movies about road trips, journeys, and quests. Also, I need to see Boys on the Side this weekend. Not want…neeed.
This video makes me homesick for Paris. I miss my old boulangerie…and my backup boulangerie when my primary one was closed on Mondays.

I’m not sure of how it happened, but this week got away from me. I feel like I was just starting out the day on Monday like…three second ago. Then I blinked and found myself in the middle of Friday, craving iced coffee and hearing Erato covering “Call Your Girlfriend” on loop in my head…again.
Suffice it to say I didn’t find the time to put together a real digest for this week, but I did stumble across something that I wanted to share.
I’m not what you would call a “runner,” but I think I could definitely get into it if I had a Wonder Woman running costume from The Princess Runs shop.Especially if I can get someone to drive very slowly behind me, playing the theme from The New Adventures of Wonder Woman the entire time.”Wonder Wooommmaaaannnnn!”
